Professional Staff Bio's

Curtis Labelle
Head CPGA Professional

Curtis Labelle has a remarkable passion for the game of golf. He is dedicated to every aspect of the game and has outstanding  communication abilities with people and a strong drive for customer service excellence.

A native of Belleville, Ontario Curtis was introduced to the game by his father as a junior and turned Professional at the age of 21. He is actively involved in the golf industry with over 25 years of experience and is a member in good standing with the Canadian Professional Golfers Association, The Association of Golf Merchandisers and has served 3 years as the Membership Chairman for the Ontario Professional Golfers Association.

Curtis has been with the Niagara Parks Commission for 5 years and prior to becoming the Head CPGA Professional of Legends on the Niagara he served as the Head Professional of Whirlpool Golf Course the classic Stanley Thompson course established in 1951. Curtis also brings experience from 5 previous Professional Golf Facilities and his successfully completed numerous golf specific training programs.

In additional to his Head Professional duties, Curtis is the Tournament Services Director for the Royal Canadian Golf Associations LPGA BMO Financial Women’s Group Canadian Open hosted by Legends on the Niagara, played on the Battlefield layout July 5 – 11 2004.

Serious about the game Curtis presently holds 3 course records and has won the Ontario Professional Golfers Association Head Pro/Assistant Pro Championship 3 times, in addition to several other Niagara District Professional Tournaments.

Curtis enjoys recruiting new golfers to the game, networking with and coaching todays and future CPGA Professionals.

Mike Purnell
Tournament Co-ordinator
Mike has been a C.P.G.A. Professional for 8 years and is currently the Associate in charge of Corporate Golf Tournaments and the purchasing of all merchandise on display in the pro shop. While at Mohawk and Sheridan colleges, Mike achieved the O.C.A.A. Silver Medal in golf two straight years '95 & '96 and graduated with a Diploma in Business in 1996.
After six years as a professional at one of the premier public golf courses in Canada 'Glen Abbey', Mike is now applying his skills and creative expertise to the Legends golf shop. Mikes ambition is to be the Director of Golf at a facility like Legends on the Niagara and to one day qualify for the Canadian Open.
Mike has a wealth of playing experience including the time he played with Jesper Parnevik during the week of the Canadian Open. Mike beat Jesper easily (on the pinball machine) before Jespers' scheduled practice round.


Geoffrey Law
Associate Professional (Teaching)

Born in Northern Ireland, Geoff brings 37 years of golfing experience to the Legends on the Niagara Teaching Academy. Although working in different fields for many years, Geoff has always had a passion for the game of golf that he could never ignore. After operated a golf club repair business in Northern Ireland, Geoff immigrated to Canada and became a C.P.G.A. Professional in 1996.

As an amateur, Geoff played golf for his home club, representing them at a Provincial level. He also competed in the North of Ireland Amateur Championship 90/95 and was a member of the Junior Cup team in 93 which played in the All Ireland finals. Geoff was the Scratch Cup Champion in '93 & 95' at his home course in Northern Ireland.

Geoff has worked at Sherkwood Golf School, Port Colborne C.C. and Hunters Pointe before joining the staff at Legends on the Niagara. This year will see him teach at the Legends on the Niagara Academy of Golf.
